Iran has been facing the imposition of new sanctions from the United States, and its economic conditions are worsening. Despite these challenges, its support to various groups in the Middle East has not stopped. There are different proxies working to serve Iranian interests in the region, and Hezbollah is one of the most successful and prominent Iranian proxies. Hezbollah works in Lebanon, which is a militia, and it also turned into a political party. It has been noted that Hezbollah follows the Iranian revolution and the leadership of Wilayat al-Faqih strongly. It sometimes compromises on its own and Lebanon’s interests over Iran’s interests.
Iran’s threats and mal intentions in the region are worth to be explored and considered actively because it is continuously working to gather its force through developing its loyalists. It has admitted the fact that it cannot gain support from the majority of countries in the region and internationally, its policy is not popular. Therefore, it has adopted an indirect way by encouraging proxies. It does so through the unity of command as the concept of Wilayat al-Faqih adopted and spread by Khomeini calls for followers to abide by the order of one power. Hezbollah is the militia, which fully endorses and follows the teachings of the concept of Wilayat al-Faqih. From 1985 open letter of Hezbollah to express obedience to Khomeini to the declaration of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrullah to be a member of Wilayat al-Faqih party, the terrorist organization openly shows to be on the side of Iran.
Hassan Nasrullah said that he was proud to be in the Wilayat al-Faqih party, and it showed the connections of Iran with the organization. The statement made in 2008 meant that Hezbollah obeys the current supreme leader as well. Moreover, the terrorist organization is engaged in activities serving the interests of Iran. It combats Israel, participates in the civil war in Syria, and sends militants in Iraq, and all of these actions benefit only one country that is Iran. It also gets support from Iran through IRGC and intelligence ministry so that it may carry out its activities with little or no error. In one of a unique collaboration of Hezbollah with Iran, it helped Iran to crush the Green Revolution in 2009. It is reported that it sent 5000 fighters to Iran so that it may keep its opponents silent. It shows that Hezbollah is not merely a proxy of Iran, but it is its militant arm. It should be taken as Iran’s representative in the region, and it should be treated in connection with Iran.
These actions by Iran are not new, but they are expected. Among different terrorist activities by Iran through prominent proxies, here the case of Hezbollah has been taken, which is an international terrorist organization. Iran is playing with the world’s peace, and it does not care regarding long term effects of its selfish actions. Hezbollah is a live example, which has emerged as a threat to stability and peace in the Middle East while it does not believe in dialogue. It sometimes compromises its interests over Iran’s benefits, and such tendency is very dangerous in a sensitive region of the Middle East.
