Module 2 Discussion Activity: Change Requirement and Project Life Cycle

In the project management process, it seems appropriate to identify the change requirements and set the foundation for a substantial change and contribute to the differentiated project outcomes. In this contemporary project management process, the most important thing is to understand the different stages of the project life cycle. Accordingly, various project activities are to be shaped for each stage of the phase. This mega project is based on the education division, as the intention is to improve the educational processes and educational outcomes. The best thing that project management can do is to navigate multiple loopholes or flaws in the current educational process. The current problem that ASQ educational division is facing is the scarcity of resources. The limited resources have compelled the company or division to make some changes. Improving the quality of education and changing the educational environment are two prominent change requirements in this particular project. On the other hand, several project life cycle phases are initiation, planning, execution, control, and closure. From k-2 to higher education and workforce development, some changes are to be made accordingly (Grover, Kovach, & Cudney, 2016).

This project life cycle contains several activities that may compel to introduce some modifications, such as quality management approaches. According to my personal opinion and thoughts regarding this project, the most important thing is to integrate with different project management knowledge areas. These project management knowledge areas are kind of different skills which can help to meet these compelling educational objectives. Thus, It can be said that the project management process, especially project life cycle phases, can be completed successfully by aligning with the project management knowledge areas. These project management areas of knowledge align when intending to integrate with changes in k-12, higher education, and workforce development. This particular project seems sensitive, as all key stakeholders such as educators, government, communities, and students are involved. In this initiation phase, which is part of the project life cycle, the need for the project is to be identified. In the planning stage, the project management will be thinking about implementing the change requirements (Westland, 2007).

The project scope is imperative to establish in this whole context. In the execution stages, all strategies or activities, which are formed by the company management, are to be executed or implemented. In the monitoring stage, the project management will be in the best position to track activities or execution process. Different quality measures can be used at that stage, as expected objectives must be met. The best thing in the final stage of the project life cycle is that all activities are to be closed, as everything which has been done is to be recorded in the document form. Containing a better quality through a lean six sigma methodology is also the right approach for instance, integration with DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve, and control). Maintaining quality through six sigma and adequate project knowledge is one of the best strategies, leading to better outcomes for this education division (Shankar, 2009).
