Literacy Translation

Prompt #1: Develop a description of “literary translation” based on readings we have done for this class. Discuss the main qualities/aspects of literary translation by drawing support from the readings.

Literacy translation enables meaningful text for readers. By streamlining the aesthetic function, the literary translation can help to derive some insights, which can be understood by the readers. However, it seems tough to demonstrate the depth of the literary work. It is the non-literal rendition to facilitate readers. Translation of articles, books, stories, poetry, and different advertising material is a literary translation. Also, any text or document which requires a flexible or creative approach also needs literary translation. Wonderful pieces of art or literature must be communicated effectively to readers, and the literary translation is the main source.

Thesis Statement: “Literary translation is a need of modern literary work to enhance the intellectual understanding by presenting the figurative speech of fictitious literary work at the high level.”

Literary translation increases intellectual understanding by presenting figurative speech at a high level. The literary translator must contain several qualities to come up with the quality literary translation. For Instance, some doubts and cultural bias may occur, and the quality of literary translation usually explains the rationale of the translation. Interestingly, it can be depicted in the translator’s prefaces. The role of the prefaces in the literary translation is to eliminate the invisibility of the translator. It looks an important aspect because people usually give importance to the translator when reading and deriving different meanings from the original text.   Concerning the prefaces in the literary translation, another key aspect is the paucity. It has been revealed that the paucity of the prefaces causes less attention to people. The literary translation can be ranked low in the public eye. Thus, high-quality literary translation always presents a detailed preface in a positive manner to get the reader’s attention (McRae 64).

Literary translation is a need of modern literature to enhance intellectual understanding. The quality of the literary translation is triggered by the better intellectual understanding. The quality of the literary translation demonstrates the visibility of the translator if there is a prominent cultural gap. The cultural gap is explained effectively, which helps the reader understand the differences and the level of cognition used by the author of the original work. The effective depiction of the cultural gap and the presence of the translator are one of the main qualities or aspects of the literary translation.  In an intellectual work, it has been revealed that there can be cultural and linguistic elements in the original literary work. These cultural and linguistic elements usually emerge as problematic factors for the audience. Another prominent quality of literary translation is the disjunction of the cultural factors. The translated text must be faithful to the original text, and it can keep the translated text relevant (Tymoczko 21).

The quality of the literary translation of the fictitious work or any piece of art is the effectiveness of the translated content. The literary translation creates a shell that explains or elaborates the literary and cultural background. To enhance the visibility of understanding when translating the text, it seems worthy to manipulate some key ideas. It makes the whole translated text remarkable and easy to perceive for readers. It is a fact that the substance of any two linguistic systems is visible in the original text. However, the major aspect is to present some substitute ideas or themes that the author intended to elaborate on the original text. Due to cultural differences in the original literature and the possible translated text, it seems important to keep the balance and never focus on a single particular culture. The high-quality literary translation includes some selective cultural factors. In the original literature, the author may use some mythic allusions that can be used to describe different things (Tymoczko 24) ).  Similarly, in the translated text, these allusions are to be portrayed effectively. Thus, the prominent aspect is keeping the main theme or relevant points in the translation process, especially when translating the piece of art of fictitious work.  The literary translation maintains the same story, which also keeps the importance of both the translator and the author.

Literary translation is a need of modern literary work.  However, the quality of the text is to be maintained by the translator. For Instance, a high-quality literary translation is based on the different algorithms to divide the text into different sections. When translating the original text to rendering ideas to readers, the literary literature depicts the stylistic translation. It has emerged as a big quality, and it can grab the reader’s attention.  Many readers are isolated due to the language barriers of differences. The high-quality literary translation eliminates these differences and makes it easy for the reader to derive different insights. The need of literary translation is based on the quality and several aspects. The prominent aspect is knowledge. The high-quality work is full of knowledge. It is not just altering the language and ideas. The high-quality literary translation maintains a wider vocabulary and explores some ideas, which are presented in the original text. The literary translation makes readers assertive to navigate ideas and perceive meanings of what the author of the original text intended (McRae 70).

Presenting the figurative speech of fictitious literary work at the high level needs patronage.  The importance of patronage is quite visible in the translated text.  There is no space for any critical analysis of different concepts or ideas, and it justifies the importance of patronage. According to the reception theory, the perception of the audience about the text is important.  The quality of the translated text is linked with the positive perception.  Figurative speech in the literary translation helps readers avoid importing words or texts.  It can be said that it is a complete language alternative, which is quite useful when reading the fictitious work (McRae 76).

In the end, it is to conclude that the literary translation is workable for readers, who are isolated from readings due to language or cultural differences. It looks tough to understand the piece of art or comprehensive historical background. The qualities and major aspects mentioned above are key sources for readers to accelerate understanding and make the whole work impactful.  A person who intends to translate literature must keep qualities and aspects of the literary translation in mind. The purpose is to come up with well-organized and structured content for readers.
