Innovation and Entrepreneurship in healthcare

Case Study

Improving health and social care through innovation and entrepreneurship

1-Characteristics of Population and the Innovation

People in the healthcare industry contain particular behaviour when it comes to healthcare treatment. If a person faces any disease which is associated with the brain, he may prefer high quality and advanced treatment to get rid of the problem. The population always wants to pay high for high-quality treatment. Nevertheless, with the perspective of healthcare organisations, some formidable challenges are also in the limelight. It has been revealed that healthcare costs have been increased, as limited people can pay high and get access to quality treatment. On the other hand, the characteristics of the innovation process can be understood by elaborating on Roger’s model. According to this model, innovation seems and evolvement, which emerges in different phases such as knowledge, persuasion, decision, implementation, and confirmation. For Instance, BMI technology is to be launched or used by healthcare organisations due to the evolvement of innovation. Tesla gathered knowledge in an innovative culture by anticipating the needs of people or brain patients. Persuasion was adequate, as the company had to streamline the need for new technology and processes to connect humans with devices to enable better treatment. Finally, the innovator decided to execute the idea and implement the process. During the launch of BMI, the confirmation was justified [1]. Of course, Tesla has become an early adopter, which is also associated with Roger’s model [2]. The innovation (BMI) can change the way the local authority in the healthcare industry operates. For Instance, they will be adopting new ways to treat patients. The innovation falls under product or process, as by choosing the new product for brain treatment, the credible options are increased. The micro ship will also be inserted through laser beams in the brain, and it seems a viable option, as far as customer treatment is concerned. This innovation in the healthcare industry reduced the size of the imaging unit and increased mobility. The brain can send signals to any electronic device such as compared to an Android phone. Therefore, it looks incremental. At the moment, the new era of incredible functioning of the human brain started due to this remarkable innovation. It is also a great technological push, as it can meet the needs of the healthcare industry.  The relevant advantage is efficient treatment. Apart from it, it seems feasible, as it can be compatible with different devices [3]. Nuralink Corporation is an American neurotechnology company, which manufactured BMIs (implantable brain–machine interfaces). The purpose was to understand brain functions and enable high-quality treatment. It is a disruptive innovation, as ways of treating brain diseases are to be changed. The cost of Nuralink seems high, as it may reach to tens of thousands of dollars. However, due to high productivity and efficiency, income level is expected to increase. Uses of Nuralink are enhancement of brain function of people with dementia, Down syndrome, spinal cord injury, blind/deaf, epilepsy, and Parkinson’s disease etc [4].

2-Characteristics of Innovation and Entrepreneurship

In the innovation process, company management can face resistance. For Instance, healthcare organisations can consider new BMI technology dangerous, as it may drive relevant threats to humanity.  The concept of superhuman in the future is in the limelight, as threats to human dignity are also emerging. Nevertheless, BMI seems promising and reliable, as far as brain treatment and its compatibility are concerned [3]. The usability of innovation is one of the most significant factors. The most important thing for an entrepreneur is to make the new technology or device feasible in the health care industry. Relevancy and workability are two main characteristics, which can be integrated. Aspects of entrepreneurship and innovation can be identified or understood by streamlining the entrepreneurial process model.  Accordingly, one of the prominent characteristics is recognising the opportunity [5]. It is a fact that top technology companies like Tesla contain adequate financial and human resource capability. It is a fact that the financial capacity of firms can make organisations take CSR initiatives. Being an automobile giant, musk managed to contain a remarkable culture, which compelled stakeholders to think differently or see a larger picture. The entrepreneur can bring change to the local authority by changing things steadily. For Instance, by adopting Lewin’s change model, which includes refreezing, changing, and refreezing, the old technology can be replaced with old technology. Incredibly, the entrepreneur can anticipate things and idealise the situation after the possible adaptation and instant solution.  Characteristics of innovation and entrepreneurs can be changed with time, and roles and outputs are also to be changed in the healthcare industry [5]. Brent local authority contains 324,000 people along with 2500 people suffering with dementia. The cost of service to people with dementia is high. For Instance, a home visit costs more than tens of thousands of dollars. By dealing with housing, waste collection, and environmental health, it helps people to save money, improve quality of life, and contain independence [6].

3-Two Government Policy on Implementing Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The United Kingdom is looking to improve the healthcare system and enhance the visibility of different healthcare outcomes. For Instance, an appropriate initiative taken by the government and healthcare institutions is to guide the development of innovative processes and healthcare technologies. For Instance, one of the most prominent actions is disease prevention and proactive management of chronic and different health conditions. On the other hand, another initiative has been taken. For Instance, the United Kingdom’s government is committed to enabling disease detection and diagnosis at any cost. The purpose is to lead to better patient outcomes. BMI device, which is an innovation in the healthcare industry, is also in the limelight to increase patient outcomes. The United Kingdom is committed to ensuring tailored treatments on both government and local authorities. For Instance, the role of technology to make health outcomes better is visible. The research revealed that the UK is going to enable the commercial use of quantum technology [7]. The purpose of these initiatives is to make the healthcare system of the country effective and result oriented. Now, in the contemporary business era, it seems imperative for the management of healthcare organisations to make the whole system flexible to adopt further changes [8]. The government has to regulate the use of Nuralink, as far as human safety and security of different computer networks. With the evolvement of this innovative device, government policy can also be changed [9].
